The Instrument Panel

Volvo cars generally have the instrument panel under the windscreen which, contain the basic controls that are needed to run the vehicle. Instrument panels contain the speedometer, tachometer, odometer and fuel gauge, and thus make it easy for the driver to keep track of the condition of his or her car.

The speedometer is an instrument present in the instrument panel, of almost every car and measures the amount of speed the car is traveling at. The tachometer is a gauge that displays the revolutions made by an engine in an entire minute. An odometer, on the other hand, is a device that measures the total distance traveled by the automobile. A fuel gauge is an instrument that measures the amount of fuel left in the tank of the car. All these instruments tell a driver exactly how the car is functioning at a given moment, helping him drive to perfection.

Volvo cars are designed to perfectly satisfy all the drivers’ needs, and are practical as well as aesthetic in designing each and every aspect of the car. All instrument panel present in a Volvo car, are designed in such a away that the driver can instantly find out the condition in which his car is in. And all of it is arranged in a beautiful and tasteful manner too!

However, while maintaining other parts of the car, it is important to maintain the instrument panel in tip top condition too. Sea air, for instance is very harmful to cars. It is humid, salty and makes it difficult for the instrument panel and all other electrical devices in the car. This air may make result in the instrument panel being severely affected. So, it is important to keep checking the condition of the Volvo Instrument panel, in case one is living in a place which, is close to the sea. After all, you would want the best out of your car!

The check up should involve the inspection and the cleaning of the wires, connection points, contacts, and the fuse holders. The first thing you should do is to make sure all the wires are in a good condition and that they have not been affected by the bilge water. The bilge water can enter the engine and seriously affect the performance of the car. The leakage currents could also cause serious corrosive damage if they affect the galvanic corrosion prevention.

Once that is done, it is important to clean and dry the cable. One must also use regular oil or the recommended Volvo Penta Universal Oil to coat the connection points, contacts and the fuse holders with the lubricant. Loosen the oxidized connection points, if necessary and clean them properly. Also, make sure you check all the fuses in the instrument panel. Always make sure you always have a few fuses with you, just in case of a problem. Then, charge the car battery and connect it to the car. Don’t forget to grease the poles, too! If all of this is done regularly, and the car is maintained carefully, you won’t have to worry about the instrument panel of the car at all!
